Hey! I'm Daniel, a 35-year-old single guy in San Diego. I'm looking to expand the circle of women I meet beyond Hinge and Bumble as I search for my last first date, so I decided to create a public dating profile. If you think you or someone you know would be a good fit, I'd love to hear from ya. My contact info is at the bottom.
The Basics
I grew up in Newton, MA, and I fell in love with the SoCal sunshine when I came out here for college at Claremont McKenna. I'm still a little baffled that people voluntarily live in places that have winter, although I do love a good ski trip!

I never quite found my community in LA, so I moved down to SD at the end of 2022. I'm committed to living in a warm city in a blue state, but I'm open to moving back to LA or splitting time between SoCal and Boston.
Never married, no kids. I'm looking to change the former and I'm open to exploring the latter.
Personality
I'm super social and activity oriented - I'd rather be hiking, at a concert or comedy show, playing bar trivia, or hosting game night than just grabbing a meal.
I pride myself on being honest and reliable: I don't bail on plans, I respond to texts promptly, and if I say I'm gonna do something, I do it.
I see the world through a lens of logic and probability. Evidence-based reasoning is a core part of my identity, and I'm a big fan of #EffectiveAltruism. I'm an ardent atheist (call it my rebellion against my parents for sending me to Jewish school til college), and I'm looking for someone with a similar perspective on god and religion.
My east coast friends play a huge role in my life - I've known many of my close friends since middle or high school. I asked a dozen of them to describe me in 3-5 words; here's what they said:

Interests
I'm happiest outdoors. In 2013, I hiked 1,400 miles on the Pacific Crest Trail, and it was the best experience of my life. Nature nourishes me to my core, and I love hiking and camping with my mini-poodle Bagel. I'm not sure there's anything better than jumping in a crystal clear alpine lake after a long hike.

I love games. When I was in high school, I was one of the top-rated Scrabble players in the country. I do the NYT crossword every day, and I have a dream to publish a crossword of my own someday.
I enjoy sports like soccer and ultimate frisbee, and I've been known to treat pick-up like it's the playoffs. I even made a shirt that says Hustle Never Has an Off Day, and I live that mantra on the field.

I relax by doing rooftop yoga or reading short stories at the park.
I'm working on a novel, and I play saxophone just well enough that my neighbors don't hate me.
Career
I spent most of my early professional career teaching LSAT and GMAT classes. But after I began betting on sports as a hobby in 2020, it quickly became clear that it made financial sense to quit teaching and focus on betting full time. To answer a few FAQ:
-
Everything I do is 100% legal and above board
-
Yes, it pays the bills
-
No, I can't help you with your fantasy team
-
OK, fine, I'll help you with your fantasy team
I never imagined I’d bet on sports for a living, but it’s turned out to be the perfect blend of my passions for math and sports. I also value my autonomy, so I love that I'm my own boss and that I can work anywhere I have WiFi. I grind hard from September through April and then take vacation between the NBA and NFL seasons.
Family
My family is back in Boston, and we're pretty close despite the distance. I talk to my parents a few times a week, and I've been thriving in my newfound role as an uncle. It's a joy watching my nephew take anything you give him and immediately put it in his mouth.

Politics
Rather than reduce myself to a political label, I'll offer a smorgasbord of things I believe:
-
Climate change is real
-
The world is a better place when women can have abortions
-
Free speech is more important than people's feelings
-
Markets are generally efficient
-
Private prisons shouldn't be a thing
-
Not everything is about race
-
Drugs should be legal
-
Guns should be illegal
-
Single-payer is the best healthcare system
Miscellaneous
A few random nuggets that didn't fit neatly into any category but feel worth mentioning:
-
I'm a vegetarian; you don't have to be, though it'd be a nice bonus
-
I don't have any social media
-
I keep my place tidy
What I'm Looking For
No need to check every box, but it's a sign we might be a good match if you:
-
have a political opinion that doesn't align with your party / friends / family
-
feel comfortable talking to new people in social situations
-
enjoy the outdoors
-
have a stable career
-
think trying hard is cool
-
have been described as "bubbly"
-
think puns are underrated
-
have hobbies you're passionate about
-
enjoy pondering hypotheticals
-
read through this whole site and thought, damn, how is this dude still single?
